The Old Town and Kapana by car
The streets of the Old Town are narrow and steep, and much of the centre is a pedestrian zone. The easiest way is to leave the car in a car park outside the centre and explore the Old Town, the Roman theatre and the Kapana district on foot.
Where to drive from Plovdiv
Bachkovo Monastery is about 30 km south, past Asenovgrad, on the way to the Rhodopes and Pamporovo. To the north are Hisarya with its mineral springs and Koprivshtitsa, and to the east Stara Zagora and the Black Sea along the Trakia motorway.
